The Guild of Master Craftsmen fully recognises the importance of encouraging young people to train in the skilled trades and crafts. It gives financial support by sponsorship and takes an active role in the promotion of a number of events throughout the year.
Young Craftsman of the Year is a major event that the Guild co-sponsors each year. Hundreds of youngsters aged 14 - 21 enter this competition which aims to promote craft skills and help to launch these young people into a career using the skills they have developed. Encouraging these youngsters is important to the survival and success of craftsmanship in the UK.
Southampton City College has been providing training for the community since 1943 and sets high standards for all its students. The Guild is proud to be associated with the college as co-sponsors of their annual student award.
