How much does it cost to become a member?

What are the criteria for membership?

• Membership is open to applicants from all trades, crafts and professions, to both individuals and companies.
• Applicants should have been practising their trade for at least 2 years.
• Applicants will usually be visited at their business premises by an experienced Guild Assessor, who will establish their qualifications and assess their technical competence, requesting detailed information about the company and its recently completed work.
• Details of five recent customers are required and the Guild will send each a confidential questionnaire to obtain opinions about the standard of craftsmanship and service provided by the Applicant. The Guild seeks confirmation of high standards and a professional business manner. Any queries arising out of returned references are followed up.
• Companies must hold all relevant insurances to comply with the law.
• The Guild's Council of Management, takes all these matters into account together with the applicant's trading history, customer service procedures and standards of workmanship before membership is granted.
